Weaving a Web

Coming soon, you will find our interactive world map highlighting the growing web of individuals, communities, and organizations that comprise EARTH's web. Many of these points include links to other organizations, individuals, and resources, showing an inspiring story of grassroots healing, reclamation, and transformation. 

EARTH is inspired by the concept of "Etuaptmumk" -- the Mi'kmaw word for "Two-Eyed Seeing." Etuaptmunk is meant to serve as a guiding principle that encourages bringing together Indigenous and Western ways of knowing to achieve richer understandings and better outcomes. This contextual and process-based approach involves using both Indigenous and Western perspectives to explore the world and combining their strengths for a more comprehensive view. EARTH does not decide what this picture looks like for any given individual, organization, or community, rather operates from the stance that each person and system can come to know themselves better and arrive at their own decisions and answers. We believe in creating space... space for magic - 'the right amount of energy at the just right time and for the right purpose' - to manifest.

 

Our work is built upon many foundations, one of which is our long-standing collaboration with The Center for Mind-Body Medicine (CMBM). CMBM's contemporary model of mind-body medicine draws upon wisdom traditions from around the world. This researched approach to stress and trauma healing and wellness promotion in kids, teens, and adults, has been implemented across a wide-variety of cultures and settings. EARTH members have been guiding the cultural adaptations of this approach to meet local needs including in Indigenous communities, the Persian culture, and others, with the aim of honoring sacred origins and remaining rooted in deep respect.
